Breakfast on the Go

August 15, 2013

By now we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  And we all have the best intentions to do it right every day.  But the morning can quickly get out of control and before we know it we need to get out the door 5 minutes ago, and we haven’t even thought about breakfast.  Here are three tips to help you get a good start to your daily fuel when your time is limited.

1. Pack the powder

A high quality protein powder is a handy staple for a nutritious breakfast. Scoop a serving into a plastic baggie or a shaker bottle to grab when in a pinch.  Add your favorite liquid to the shaker bottle for a quick start to your day.  If you are packing the baggie, you can add it to your oatmeal or give it to your local smoothie shop to add to your morning shake.

2. Hard boiled eggs

This one takes a little more preparation, but having boiled eggs on hand can prevent you from making a bad breakfast decision.  Boil a few eggs before bed or boil them while getting ready for work, it only takes 1 minute to put eggs and water in a pot and on the stove and a max of 10 min for them to be ready.

3. Sweet potato

It may sound strange, and you’ll probably feel even stranger eating them for breakfast.  You will like it more than you think.  Wash and make fork holes in a small (or ½ of a large) sweet potato, pop in the microwave for 7 minutes, grab and go. If you are feeling more adventurous – sprinkle some cinnamon, add some butter, get creative with the condiments.

Whatever you do, just eat breakfast!  I’d love to hear your time crunch solutions for breakfast.  Share your tip below.

Feel good, do what you love,
